Amsterdam Rfc v OLD OLD Christians
06 April, 2017
We entertained Amsterdam Athletic Club in two games in Rathcooney tonight. We'll consentrate on the Veterans game, as by the time it finished, I had lost the will to live.
The game opened brightly, as Rallie made a 30 yard break. Naturally, there was no support, so the move fizzled out. Minutes later, calamity. Taking two steps to his left to try and catch a kick off, Rallie's hammer went. To gasps from the crowd he left the pitch.
It was a bit of a stop start game, as the players had to wait at every breakdown until the ref arrived and then he usually got the decision wrong.
There were some other highlights, Matt "the Hippy", being left one on one with a Dutch attacker. Matt jockeyed his man, set himself up for the tackle and then promptly fell on his backside.
Not to be outdone, Colin Murphy repeated the movement minutes later.
I think the visitors won in the end, but with Paul reffing, who knows.
Once again, the Ladies Committee outdid themselves on the catering sade.
