Muskerry 31 vs Old Christians 20

Muskerry NOTE TIME CHANGE, 13:00PM

Once again it was a re-shuffled team from the previous week, that took the field against Muskerry. It was cold and the wind was cross field as we enjoyed the best of the opening stages. We could not however score and Muskerry broke away to force a penalty. Five minutes later, Ryan O'Connell cancelled this out with a fine kick, but within minutes, the home side added a penalty, a try and another penalty to lead by 6-14 after 35 minutes. Sub Cian Purcell, helped force a penalty, with a couple of forceful carries and Ryan's second succesful kick, saw the half time score at 6pts to 14. An early Muskerry penalty, saw them stretch their lead, before we finally began to rumble. A series of driving mauls, forced the home side back and when we got close to the line, skipper Alan O'Dea broke away to crash over. Ryan's conversion reduced Muskerry's lead to 13pts to 17. Within minutes however, we conceded a soft converted try and when the home side repeated the medicine six minutes later, it seemed game over at 13pts to 31. We kept plugging away however and from another driving maul, the indefaticable Shane Hennessy got the touchdown. Ryan's conversion took the score to 20 points to 31 and that's the way it finished. A disappointing result, but maybe our season in a snapshot.
