Crosshaven 22 vs Old Christians 0

Crosshaven, 14:30PM

In conditions as bad as I've witnessed in a long time, our Juniors put up a gallant display against Crosshaven, who currently top the table.

Things started badly, with Luke picking up an injury in the warm up. His replacement, Cian Purcell, lasted only a couple of minutes, picking up a leg injury after a great break. We battled on gamely however, despite conceding a try on twelve minutes, but "greenness" is still costing us.

The pitch in Crosshaven has a distinct slope and the strong wind (and at times snow), was blowing down the hill, but we persisted in trying to run the ball in our own twenty two, much to the frustration of the frost bitten supporters.

The patched up pack was performing quiet well and amazingly held their own in the scrums. It is probably unfair to pick out any of the forwards, but Skipper Alan O'Dea, Alan O'Connell and Dave O'Driscoll caught the eye.

We reached the break just 5-0 down and and there was no change for the first ten minutes of the second half before the home side doubled their lead with a second try.

We lost Ryan and Pump later in the half and it was no surprise the Crosshaven added two more tries before the end.

Jeff Hodder was impressive in the second half, gaining a lot of ground when running back the Crosshaven kicks while Nibbler also had a good second half.

All in all, the scoreline was a little tough after a battling display, but injuries are taking their toll on a squad that is already shallow.

Some match pictures.

Another tireless display from Alan.

Backs away.

Line out take.

Duxer going to the end.

Mike goes wide.

More snow.

A muddy sidestep.

Our pack which stood up well.

Pop pass.

Sam and Alan, (I think).
