J2’s v Mallow
On a cold dark Friday night Old Christians J2’s welcomed Mallow to Rathcooney. It didn’t bode well for us when our num 8 Eoin Murphy went off early injured. Despite early injury worry Old Christians went on to win the first half, the first try was scored by Liam Carty, followed by Ivan Tripp who’s try was adjusted to have been a double movement leaving the score 5-0 deep into the first half Old Christians were awarded a penalty that was converted by Paddy Naughton bringing our half time score to 8 points to nil. The first half lasted nearly an hour and the second half wasn’t that long or we would still be there.
The second half saw Mallow score 6 tries to our 1. Their first try was converted and their second not also their 3rd one was unconverted bringing the score to 8-17. The restart didn’t go 10 meters and the following scrum on the halfway line seen Mallow run in a converted try. Calamity struck again and the restart didn’t go the required distance and Mallow did the same thing again and they scored an unconverted try this time. Finally Liam broke through again to book end the game with another try also unconverted. Unfortunately Mallow weren’t finished and ran in another converted try bringing the full time score to Old Christians 13 – 36 Mallow.
Upcoming: J2’s next match is next friday night v Bandon in Rathcooney K.O. 7.30pm
