We took the field against Muskerry today, with a much under-strength team and paid the price.
We started well and pinned the home side back in the opening minutes, but then we tried to run slow ball on our own twenty two, when wiser council
would have dictated a wind assisted clearance kick and when the ball went to ground, the Blues scooped it up for a soft try under the posts.
On fifteen minutes, Muskerry added a second converted try and although Laz opened our account just before the 30 minute mark,
Muskerry added a third try, while we picked up a yellow card.
A second Laz penalty brought the score to 6 pts to 21, but just before the break, a “no look” pass was intercepted and we went into the break,
6pts to 26 down.
Three minutes into the second half, Laz broke in his own twenty two and Brian Sisk carried it on, before Conor Slattery touched down for a fine score.
Laz added the points and it was 13 points to 26.
That was as good as it got however, as the home side added three more tries for a 13 pts to 43 final score.
We picked up a second yellow card in the second half and we gifted the opposition two soft scores so much to be worked on there. Conor Slattery
was especially prominent early on and Daniel O’Mahony can be very happy with his first outing.
