Sundays well v Under 18’s
It was rather windy as Old Christians took to the pitch to face Sunday’s well, Peter even remarked it was windier there than in Rathcooney which will tell you how windy it was. It was also overcast but remained dry that’s the only good news from our day in Musgrave park. The game started to a scatter of scrums as it was so windy Rob’s kicks were hanging in the air and not going the 10 meters, the Well players played the ball but at the first infringement it was brought back for the scrum. The Well started running in tries some converted some not we just couldn’t break through, when Connor Drummy made it to the line and touched the ball down it was adjudged to have been a double movement and they were awarded a penalty. They burst through for a try bringing the first half to a close the score was Sunday’s Well 17 – 0 Old Christians.
The second got underway with a sin binning for the Wells number 6 for repeated infringements. We couldn’t make the most of the extra man and didn’t score anything in this period the same couldn’t be said for Sunday’s Well who ran in a brace of tries all unconverted. We had the wind at our backs for the second half but it didn’t seem to make a difference. Unfortunately Josh Kolawole went off after a spectacular tackle in which he injured himself, it didn’t stop the inevitable try. We finally got onto the score sheet with a well worked try grounded by Dave O’Connell and converted by Rob McKenna. The full time score was Sundays Well 31 – 7 Old Christians.
Upcoming fixtures: This Wednesday night at 7 pm we host Cork Con for our rescheduled match. The match Wednesday night is our last one of the south Munster league.
Update Wednesday game was called off due to injuries. We are waiting to see who our next opponent will be once the Munster League draw takes place this weekend.
