A cold wind blew down the pitch as Con came to Rathcooney for this top of the table clash.
Christians had the best of the opening phase of this game, but had nothing to show for it, indeed it was the twenty fifth minute before we got on the score board when Tim Hegart kicked a penalty. We should have been further ahead, but on a couple of occasions, we failed to give the final pass to a man in the clear, indeed one chance would have been a simple run in if we had looked up.
The visitors came more into the game late in the first half, but it ended,
with the home side leading three to nil.
We began the second half on the attack and five minutes in, Faride made a break from a perfect line out, fixed the last man, then showed the backs how to do it as he passed to the supporting Jack Daly who scored half way out.
Con began to come more into the game, but a tremendous James Clifford tackle ended that attack.
Nine minutes later, it looked done and dusted, when Liam Carthy, got over in the corner.
Within three minutes minutes however, a converted Con try meant it was a one score game, but we saw it out without too much bother.
We should have won this with a bit to spare, but we failed to recognise overlaps when they were on.
They won’t mind that however, as they the top Conference 5, the only unbeated team in the group.
