3rd Pan Munster game.

On a cold clear dry Sunday morning, The Old Christians welcomed Waterford City to Rathcooney for a 12 pm kick off. The scoring was opened up by Waterford City with a penalty that was scored by their number 10. Old Christians got onto the score sheet with a beautifully worked try by the 2 centres who worked really well together Oscar got the ground covered drew the tackle and popped the pass to Josh who scored between the posts making the conversion easy as possible for Harry, who equipped himself well at 10 in John’s absence. We hope Johns feeling better real soon and comes back fighting fit. After a period of Waterford pressure they were awarded another penalty that was within kicking range for their 10 bringing the score to old Christians 7 – 6 Waterford City. The Waterford boys went on to score 2 very easy tries both of them were converted bringing their score to 20 points. The first half closed without Old Christians scoring and the half time score was 7 – 20.

The second half opened with Waterford City scoring another try this one unconverted. This time Old Christians responded with a try by Oscar again grounded between the posts, converted by Harry. Waterford City responded with pressure that resulted in a penalty that their 10 scored bringing their score to 28 to our 14. Followed were 2 more converted tries by Old Christians the first one scored by Connor, the second by Akram who ran it in from his own half. The second half ended with the game pressure going back and forth between the teams but neither of them was able to translate that into a score. As the boys left the field the baying crowd declared Alex Newman man of the match for his many carries, he did have a very good game. Today Oscar, Connor and Josh will be playing with Munster against CBC Junior Cup Team we wish them the best for the game, we have no doubt you’ll make us proud. Next week we have a game on Sunday 3rd Feb at home this time against Bruff, Kick Off is 12pm.
