2nd Pan Munster game.

On a crisp clear morning we welcomed Middleton to Rathcooney they showed up with a large squad of 32 we were delighted to have a few members back from injury and even more delighted to have Harry Coughlan back from the schools all in all we had an impressive 19 players . We took to the field and started the game with Johns kick off. Pretty soon the Middleton boys opened up the scoring and trotted in 4 tries before half time all but one of them was converted leaving the half time score 22 nil. The boys didn’t give up and didn’t let their heads drop they also played much better together there was no bickering or blaming which has plagued the team recently they got on with the job at hand. Our line out still needs a few tweaks as we lost most of them but on the other hand our scrum functioned very well and we started to turn over their put in which gave the team the boost it needed.

The second half was started by Middleton and so was the scoring with Middleton trotting in another 2 unconverted tries bringing the score to 32 nil. However the under 16 Old Christians boys persistence paid off and they finally opened up the scoring with a converted try from Harry. Follow by another three unanswered tries scored by Alex, Connor and Harry, two of which were converted, bringing the full time score to Old Christians 26 – 32 Middleton. We need to keep building on this momentum from the last 20 min and keep it going for next week’s game, another home fixture this time on Sunday 26th January v Waterford City KO 12pm. We would also like to wish Oscar, Connor and Josh all the best as they partake in training with Munster Rugby best of luck boys I’m sure you’ll do us proud.
