Big Game

We hosted Waterpark-Rfc on Sunday the 7th. It promised to be a very competitive game and it did not disappoint. You could not take your eyes off the action.

Waterpark opened up the scoring with a converted penalty we answered with a unconverted try. They then converted another penalty putting them back in the lead by one point. We were yellow carded for repeated penalties. They then ran in two tries before half time one converted one not converted, we were awarded a penalty which we didn’t’ convert. The half time score was OCRFC 5 – 18 WaterparkRfc.

The second half seen the J1’s come out of the gates surging and determined to win. We scored a try early in the half which was converted. Waterpark were yellow carded for repeated infringements. We took full advance of the extra man by running in 2 more tries in that time both converted. Giving us the bonus point for 4 tries. Waterpark came back at us in the dying minutes of the game and scored 2 more tries again one converted, one not. Their last try was an intercepted ball that they ran with and scored. The full time score was OCRFC J1’s 26 – 30 Waterpark J1’s.

After the game we all went into the club house for a hearty meal of mash potatoes, beans and sausages. Thanks to the women’ committee for looking after everyone so well. Thanks to the young Kav lads who were selling tickets for the raffle.

Everyone agreed it was a great game such a pity we didn’t win but we did come away with not one but 2 bonus points. Next Sunday we are hosting Mallow at home should be a good game. Its well worth coming up to watch the J1’s playing. Especially with the minis bringing up lots of noise, atmosphere and colour thanks to Liam and Ray for organizing them for all home games. #OneClubOneCommunity
